Getzendaner Park

Chautauqua Auditorium

Located along the banks of Waxahachie Creek, this 33-acre park provides areas for picnicking, exercising and playing. The park also serves as an entrance to our trail system. The numerous shade trees and historic Chautauqua Auditorium make this a must see place for residents and visitors alike.


Chapman Park


Nestled between the fine homes of the neighborhood and bordered by Little Creek, Chapman Parks 13 acres provide a mile long walking path, a playground and several picnic areas. Footbridges, shade trees and a view of WISDs new 9th grade academy enhance the park experience.
 

 


George Brown Plaza

209 N. Jackson St.

Named for one of Waxahachie’s leading citizens this plaza is just north of downtown between College and Jackson Streets. It has beautiful brick paving and shaded picnic tables. A wonderful view of Rogers Spring Branch Creek is possible from the connecting footbridge.
 


Lion's Park

2303 Howard Road


Lions Park was built by the Waxahachie Lions Club on 28 acres leased from the City, which was later returned to the Cities maintenance and operation. It was once the main facility for all sports activities. Now that the Sports Complex is available Lions Park now serves the much-needed role of a practice facility. With its four lighted softball fields and its numerous soccer fields the park fills this role superbly. The park also serves as a starting point for our Hike and bike Trail. At this trailhead there is parking, a playground and a large pavilion.
 


Lee Penn Park

A short drive just north of Main St. you will find Lee Penn Park. It is a full service park that includes an updated playground, shaded picnic areas, athletic fields and a public pool. This three-acre park continues to be the destination for fun and fair play in our community.
 


Belle Vue Park

End of Cumberland Road


Found at the end of Cumberland Road this park provides the neighborhood with a playground, a picnic shelter, a pond and access to Mustang creek.
 

 

151 Broadhead Road

  Ninety acres of beautifully maintained Bermuda grass and state of the art amenities comprise our Sports Complex. Venues for soccer, softball, baseball and football are available for the youth and adults of our area to enjoy. The complex, which is located along highway 287, also plays host to numerous local, area and state tournaments for a number of different sports. Everyone is encouraged to participate and to come out and cheer on his or her favorite teams.

A small neighborhood park, which provides beauty and open space to the surrounding homes.
 

 


Hot Well Park

Corner of Jefferson St. and Clift St.

  Hot Well Park is a small neighborhood park which is named for the Hot Mineral Wells which existed in the early 1900's and were visited for their healthful benefits.  There were mineral baths here at one time, but the name for the park is all that remains of the old hot wells.


A & F Thompson Memorial Park

500 block of West Jefferson St.


Located along Jefferson street, this two acre park not only provides a quaint park experience but its proximity to Sims Library, Waxahachie City Cemetery, downtown shopping and the historic homes in the neighborhood make this park an ideal spot for enjoying Waxahachie.

Waxahachie Creek Hike & Bike Trail

A hike and bike trail along Waxahachie Creek. The trail currently stretches over 6 miles from Getzendaner Park to Lion's Park. The trail changes sides of the creek at Rogers Street at the old Rogers Street Bridge. The City has obtained a grant for the restoration of this bridge from the Texas Department of Transportation and is awaiting award of a bid for this work.  The bridge will become an integral part of the trail.

Spring Park

Bullard Heights Neighborhood Park

Dunaway St. and Pasley St.

Eight acres of scenic, natural beauty located at the corner of Pasley and Dunaway streets. Entry and parking is available from both streets making access to the picnic area and playground easier.
 


Brown - Singleton Park

Farley St. and Elmwood St

This spacious, 30-acre park is located on Farley Street. It offers a linear walking trail, which connects a large pavilion, a playground and several picnic stations. Parking is available off Farley and Elmwood streets.
 
 


Rogers Spring Branch Walkway

Main St. and Jefferson St.



 

This paved pathway connects Main Street and Jefferson Street via the newly renovated creek channel. Large pecan trees, a pocket park and a steel bridge spanning the channel enhance the experience.
 


Freedman Memorial Plaza

Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

This plaza, which is in the construction phase, is located on Martin Luther King jr. Blvd. The plaza will provide a memorial dedicated to the struggles and lasting contributions of our east Waxahachie citizens. A large pavilion, artistic features and a connection to Rogers Spring Branch Creek are some of the other amenities offered.
