Waxahachie Creek Hike & Bike Trail

Page under construction!

The Waxahachie Creek Hike & Bike Trail is a concrete trail that runs over six miles from Lion's Park to Getzendaner Park in Waxahachie along Waxahachie Creek.  Over half of the trail was constructed with the aid of a grant from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.  The remainder was constructed with City funds.

The runs from Lion's Park located on Howard Road at the East to Getzendaner Park on the West.  For most of its length, the trail runs along or very near Waxahachie Creek.  The trail passes Waxahachie Rodeo Arena and Fairgrounds, Rogers Street Bridge south of downtown Waxahachie, and the Old City Cemetery.

The City has been awarded a grant from the Texas Department of Transportation for the Restoration of the Rogers Street Bridge which will become an integral part of the trail, connecting the trail on the south side of the creek with that on the north.

The second phase of the trail near the Old City Cemetery to Rogers St. was completed in 2003.

Access points for the trail with parking available are at Lion's Park, Rodeo and Fairgrounds, Rogers Street, and Getzendaner Park.
