Financial Transparency

In May 2014, the City of Waxahachie became a member of the Texas Comptroller Leadership Circle, receiving the "Bronze" level of recognition. In August of the same year, the City reapplied for the “Platinum” level recognition, having completed all twenty-two requirements set forth in the award criteria. The Texas Comptroller Leadership Circle began in 2009 to recognize local governments across Texas striving to meet a high standard for financial transparency.

Through this program, the Comptroller's office recognizes local governments across Texas that open their books to the public, provide a clear and concise picture of spending, and share information in a user-friendly format that lets taxpayers easily drill into the numbers.

The City's designation in the Leadership Circle program is currently at the Platinum level, the highest designation awarded to Texas local governments by the state comptroller’s office. The program includes four levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Membership in the leadership circle lasts 12 months, at which time local governments may reapply to the circle.

In addition to the City’s Budget and Annual Financial Report (made available on the Finance Department webpage), the City of Waxahachie also posts online quarterly check registers, current tax rate and debt information and the Mayor’s Bond Election Pledge.
