The City of Waxahachie is currently undergoing a new Comprehensive Plan, updating information and considering the current and projected growth and development of the City. This plan is the City’s blueprint for the long-range development of the community and provides both a framework and the policy context within which to make decisions relating to land use and future development.
The City of Waxahachie first drafted a single document Comprehensive Plan in 1973. The plan was subsequently updated in 1983, 1995, 2007, and 2016. The 2016 Comprehensive Plan Addendum updated and added new chapters to the 2007 Comprehensive Plan, including the Future Land Use Plan and Transportation Plan, and all the maps, which were intended to be used as a guide and adopted by City Council as public policy.
For the 2021 plan, the City Council has created a Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee. The City has retained the services of Verdunity to update the City’s comprehensive and thoroughfare plans.
The Comprehensive Plan is estimated to be a 12 to 15 month project. A Comprehensive Plan Committee has also been formed to provide general guidance on the project, and is comprised of the following members:
