The Waxahachie City Council encourages all citizens to consider
becoming actively involved in City government by serving on a
City Board or Commission. Board and Commission applications are
accepted at any time throughout the year; however applications
must be submitted by July 31st for current year consideration.
Appointments are made by City Council in August/September each
year. The effective term begins October 1 for all new and
re-appointed Board and Commission members.

Planning & Zoning Commission
·
7 members; two-year staggered terms
·
Meetings: 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every
month at 4:30 p.m.
·
Reviews and considers submitted site plans and plats; makes
recommendations to City Council on Zoning Ordinance amendments,
Comprehensive Plan amendments, Specific Use Permits and rezoning
request
Park Board
·
6 members; three-year staggered terms
·
Meetings: 1st Thursday every other month at 3:00 p.m.
·
Advises the City Council in its development and beautification
of any of the parks under the jurisdiction of the city
City Cemetery Board
·
5 members; two-year staggered terms
·
Meetings: 1st Thursday every other month at 8:30 a.m.
·
Advises the City Council on all matters concerning the City
Cemetery
Zoning Board of Adjustments
·
5 members and 2 alternates; two-year staggered terms
·
Meetings: as needed
·
Serves as an appeal body for individuals seeking variances to
the Zoning Ordinance or to a decision made an administrative
official enforcing the ordinance
Waxahachie Community Development Corporation
·
7 members and 4 Ex-Officio members; two-year staggered terms
·

Identifies and funds the Civic Center and Sports Complex
projects to maintain and enhance the quality of life in

Ellis County Water Control and Improvement District No. 1

Oversees policies and projects of the Water District
Waxahachie Housing Authority
·

·

Responsible for operating public housing projects in compliance
with the ACC and applicable regulations and procedural

Midlothian/Waxahachie Airport Board

·

Acts on behalf of the City in the performance of its
governmental functions and responsibilities to operate, plan
maintain, develop, finance, promote and market Mid-Way Regional

Electrical Advisory Board
